Indoor Select Teams

Program Overview: Select is another competitive FHL program, intended for dedicated field hockey athletes who want to further their development, but have less availability for travel tournaments. Select athletes practice 2 hours a week locally from November - February and will participate in competitive travel tournaments - either sponsored by USA Field Hockey, regional tournaments hosted by universities, or other travel tournaments, out-of-city and/or out-of-state. Athletes who participate in select are encouraged to be available for all practices and tournament opportunities.
Tryouts required?: Yes - sign-up for Winter Travel and indicate that you would like to tryout for a select team.

Ages offered:
  • U10 & U12 - Selection for this age group will occur from our youth league. Indicate during registration your interest in playing for the travel select team.  More information HERE
  • U14, U16, U19 - Preseason tryouts required

  • Under-10 Age Classification: Players born after July 31, 2016, are eligible.
  • Under-12 Age Classification: Players born after July 31, 2014, are eligible.
  • Under-14 Age Classification: Players born after July 31, 2012, are eligible.
  • Under-16 Age Classification: Players born after July 31, 2010, are eligible.
  • Under-19 Age Classification: Players born after July 31, 2008, are eligible.
Travel requirement: Some travel is required for tournaments
Preseason Tryouts Dates:

** All athletes will be assigned a 90-minute slot between 9 AM - 3 PM.
** You must attend at least one tryout.  It is not mandatory to attend both.  If you have a conflict with both dates, please contact us immediately to make other arrangements.

Any athletes who tries out for Select Travel and are not named to the Select program will automatically be placed on a Regional League team.  The cost for the two programs is the same.  Regional teams also train for 2 hours a week from November - February.  There is no additional tournament fees for Regional teams.

Select Tryouts Dates:

Sunday, November  1st from 10AM - 2PM and Sunday, November 8th from 9AM - 3PM.

Tryout Details:

Times for tryouts are TBD for each age group.  You only need to attend one of the tryouts.  If you are unable to attend a tryout but are interested in participating and getting another chance for selection, please contact us to make arrangements.   

Location: Western Reserve Academy Indoor Athletic Complex in Hudson, OH 

Weekly practices are always two-hours long and will take place on Sunday's. 

Exact times for each age group are TBD.  Plan for a two-hour block between 9-3PM.  

Practices start on November 8th and end on season ends mid/late February.  This date will fluctuate depending on the date of your final tournament.  

  • No practices on November 14th, November 29th (holiday), December 26th (holiday),

Saturday, December 12th at MWC Tournament at Spooky Nook in Hamilton, OH (U12 and U14 only)- $75

Saturday, December 19th for OH Cup at Bill McDonald Gym in Columbus, OH (U10, U12, and U14 only) - $25

Saturday, December 19th at the Pittsburg Winter Smash (U16 and U19) - $50

Saturday, January 23rd at Lewisburg, PA for PA Power Tournament (U16, U12 and U10 only) - $50

Sunday, January 24th in Lewisburg, PA for PA Power Tournament (U14 and U19 only) - $50

Friday-Sunday, January 22-24 in Orlando, FL at Sunshine Showcase (outdoor tournament for U12 and U14 selected athletes only)

February 14-17: U-14 NIT in Lancaster, PA (U-14 only) - $150

February 14: OH Cup Finals in Hudson, OH (U10, U12 and U16 only) - $25

Registration includes Premier and Select tryouts, all training academy practices, and recruiting and nutrition webinars throughout the season.

Registration does NOT include tournaments. Tournament fees will be invoiced once rosters are made and specific tournaments are assigned to each team.

Registration does NOT include USA Field Hockey Membership.  All travel athletes must hold a USAFH player membership and be affiliated with "Field Hockey Life" club.  To obtain a membership, click HERE
