Indoor Select Teams

SELECT PROGRAM:
Program Overview: Select is another competitive FHL program, intended for dedicated field hockey athletes who want to further their development, but have less availability for travel related to practices and tournament opportunities. Select athletes practice once a week locally during the indoor season and will participate in competitive travel tournaments - either sponsored by USA Field Hockey, regional tournaments hosted by universities, or other travel tournaments, out-of-city and/or out-of-state. Athletes who participate in select are encouraged to be available for all practices and tournament opportunities.

Ages offered:
  • U10 & U12 - Selection for this age group will occur from our youth league. Indicate during registration your interest in playing for the travel select team. ** This registration will open on Tuesday, September 9th.
  • U14, U16, U19 - Preseason tryouts required
   Breakdown of Age Groups!
  • Under-10 Age Classification: Players born after July 31, 2015, are eligible.
  • Under-12 Age Classification: Players born after July 31, 2013, are eligible.
  • Under-14 Age Classification: Players born after July 31, 2011, are eligible.
  • Under-16 Age Classification: Players born after July 31, 2009, are eligible.
  • Under-19 Age Classification: Players born after July 31, 2007, are eligible.

Travel requirement: Some travel is required for tournaments

Preseason Tryouts Dates:
Sunday, November 2nd
Sunday, November 9th
** All athletes will be assigned a 90-minute slot between 9 AM - 4 PM.
** You must attend at least one tryout.  It is not mandatory to attend both.  If you have a conflict with both dates, please contact us immediately to make other arrangements.

Any athletes who try out for Select Travel and are not named to the Select program will automatically be placed on a Regional League team and will be reimbursed for any difference in the tournament cost ($200 for U16 and U19 and $300 for U14)

Select Tryouts are:

Sunday, November 2nd 5 PM - 8 PM (2 hour block in that time frame) and Sunday, November 9th from 9AM - 3PM (2 hour block).

If you are unable to attend a tryout but are interested in participating and getting another chance for selection, please contact us to make arrangements.   

Cleveland Select Teams practice at Western Reserve Academy's Indoor Athletic Complex in Hudson, OH.

Weekly practices are two hours long and will take place on Sundays.  Exact times for each age group are below.  Plan for a two hour block between 9AM -3PM, subject to changes slightly. 

Practices start on November 16th and end on February 15th.

December 14: MWC Tournament at Spooky Nook in Hamilton, OH 

January 3-4 : Potential NITQ in PA (qualification required)

February 7-8: Location TBD

February 14-17: U-14 NIT

February 21-23: U19 NIT in VA (qualification required)

February 27 - March 1: U16 NIT in PA (qualification required)

Registration includes Premier and Select tryouts, all training academy practices, and recruiting and nutrition webinars throughout the season.

Registration does NOT include tournaments. Tournament fees will be invoiced once rosters are made and specific tournaments are assigned to each team.

Registration does NOT include USA Field Hockey Membership.  All travel athletes must hold a USAFH player membership and be affiliated with "Field Hockey Life" club.  To obtain a membership, click HERE
